Living With OCD – An Unwelcome Houseguest! (Ottawa, CN)

An Educational OCD Awareness Week Event: OCD can turn an entire household upside down, and enmesh all family members.

An unwelcome houseguest indeed! OCD CAN be managed. Come and learn how.

Our Speaker Panel:
Jenn Coward – Recipient of the Royal’s 2017 Inspiration Award, Jenn will share her experience of living with OCD. To learn a bit about Jenn – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cUmiSD3HO4

Dr. Connie Dalton (Psychologist) – Will give an overview of treatment with focus on ERP/CBT, as well as coping and self-care strategies for those with OCD and those who support them. Decreasing accommodation and reassurance will be discussed.

Dr. Yakov Shlik (Psychiatrist) – Will give an overview of the biomedical aspects of OCD – what does OCD look like in the brain, what is going on? Medications used to treat will be discussed.

A panel discussion with all speakers participating in answering audience questions will conclude the evening.
