SUMMARY:MonsterFest | Finding Light in the Darkness
DESCRIPTION:In honor of the last day of OCD Awareness Week and Halloween month\, we’ll explore our creativity by writing about the world without or the world within (either one with a ‘monster’ theme)\, or just a good-time spooky tale! \n\nTo receive the Zoom link for this event\, sign up for the The Imagination CREW (Creative Routes to Explore Writing) at https://www.tfaforms.com/4988358 \nBelow are choices for your consideration\, though you may always write about anything else if you wish. This announcement is being sent a little early so you have time to think about the themes\, as they may be challenging for some of us. If you choose to explore a theme of dark/light\, feel free to write the darkness part\, and consider the light part\, in advance\, then write the light part when we are together on Saturday. \nChoices: \n1. What mythical monster would you be in the world? What inspired this monster? What is its reason for existing? And\, what is the light to bring peace to\, and transform\, this monster? Does the monster help to bring about the changes that will lead to a new life for itself (having fulfilled its original purpose)? \n2. Name an inner demon of yours. Face it\, explore it\, describe it as creatively or as matter of factly as you like. Then\, consider what light you can bring to this darkness. How might you tame it and take away its power? This could be an exercise in self-compassion. \n3. Create a spooky or creepy tale for a bit of Halloween month fun. \nThe inspiration for this\, besides Halloween and mental health awareness\, is finding/creating balance. We face many challenges\, but individually and collectively\, we have the power and strength to face them\, improve\, and overcome; to find the light in the darkness. Let’s get together and do what we love: being a creative\, supportive community! \nFor introductions\, prepare to share what your ‘monster’ name would be\, and to name a favorite film or literary monster (and why). And\, for extra Halloween fun\, come dressed as a ‘monster’ or in any costume\, if you wish! \nI look forward to seeing you there!

SUMMARY:Throw Your Heart into the Sea | Leokino Innsbruck\, Austria
DESCRIPTION:Eric Schirl and Christian Kogler examine OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) as a coping strategy and explore the human dilemma of uncertainty. In four chapters and in talks with people in various countries\, the documentary film shines a light on the human psyche and different means of achieving at least apparent security. We get insights into personal and collective strategies for risk aversion\, spiritual interpretations and possible solutions. In calm\, reflective images\, the film invites a deep contemplation of the interplay among the internal and external influences in our lives\, and heightens our awareness of them.
