SUMMARY:Throw Your Heart into the Sea | Screening at Moviemento Linz\, Austria
DESCRIPTION:Eric Schirl and Christian Kogler examine OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) as a coping strategy and explore the human dilemma of uncertainty. In four chapters and in talks with people in various countries\, the documentary film shines a light on the human psyche and different means of achieving at least apparent security. We get insights into personal and collective strategies for risk aversion\, spiritual interpretations and possible solutions. In calm\, reflective images\, the film invites a deep contemplation of the interplay among the internal and external influences in our lives\, and heightens our awareness of them. DESCRIPTION:Psicología al Sur\, one of the largest psychology festivals in Latin America\, will take place this October in Buenos Aires\, bringing together thousands of students\, clinicians\, researchers\, and community members to discuss the intersections of mental health\, culture\, and social change. \nAs part of the program\, psychologist\, artist\, author\, and mental health advocate Romina Vitale will present the clinical talk:\n“OCD as Neurodivergence? A Clinical Shift.” \nThe presentation will be held in the framework of International OCD Awareness Week\, highlighting both the scientific and social relevance of rethinking obsessive-compulsive disorder through a neuroaffirmative and critical lens. Vitale’s talk will address the limitations of traditional models\, propose innovative clinical perspectives\, and emphasize the importance of validating the lived experience of people with OCD. \nThis participation underscores the growing international recognition of the neuroaffirmative approach and its impact on contemporary mental health debates.
