SUMMARY:Sitting with Discomfort with OCD
DESCRIPTION:Dear Friends\,\n\nWe are delighted to announce that\, as part of our continuing Lecture Series\, we will be hosting a virtual Zoom event featuring a presentation by Dr. Jenn Rapkin on Wednesday\, August 5\, 2026\, at 6:30 pm. \nDr. Rapkin will explore “Sitting with Discomfort with OCD.” Discover how mind-body and body-centered tools and techniques can increase emotional tolerance when resisting urges\, rituals\, and mental compulsions\, and how these concepts work hand-in-hand with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy.\n\n\nDr. Rapkin is a licensed naturopathic physician\, bodyworker\, and former dancer with over 25 years of experience in integrative mental health\, mind-body medicine\, and body-centered therapies. Her personal experiences with OCD have deeply shaped her commitment to increasing awareness and understanding of the illness. Throughout her clinical career\, she has helped patients learn to tolerate emotional discomfort by cultivating a friendly\, trusting\, and attuned relationship with their bodies. She is the author of The Feeling Muscle: How Felt Emotion Can Help You Sit with and Outlast Hard Feelings.\n\nHer website is drjennrapkin.com. \nWe invite you to register today for this exclusive presentation.

SUMMARY:Is it Just Worrying? A Family Guide for When to Know if Treatment is Necessary
DESCRIPTION:It can be hard for families to know when worry is part of everyday life and when it may indicate something more\, such as an anxiety disorder. This webinar helps families understand what anxiety is and what signs may suggest it is becoming more persistent or disruptive. We will discuss common patterns seen at home\, such as avoidance\, reassurance-seeking\, and behavioral changes\, as well as how well-intended family responses can sometimes contribute to maintaining anxiety. Families will also learn practical\, evidence-informed strategies for responding without reinforcing anxiety.

SUMMARY:Family and Loved One’s Online OCD Support Group! Free!
DESCRIPTION:Chris Trondsen\, LMFT\, a clinician with OCD\, and his mom\, Liz Trondsen\, are excited to remind you about our Saturday\, July 18th\, virtual\, free\, 2-hour Family and Loved Ones OCD Support Group. To join\, simply email info@ocdsocal.org and ask for the Zoom link. \nThe support group is held every second Saturday of the month. However\, due to Chris Trondsen\, LMFT\, speaking at the IOCDF’s annual conference in Seattle that day\, we are moving July’s support group to the 3RD Saturday of the month for this month only. Our next group is Saturday\, July 18th\, from 11am to 1pm PT! \nPlease read the information for July 18th’s Family & Loved Ones’ OCD Support Group: \nDispelling Myths: What Effective CBT / ERP for OCD SHOULD Look Like & the 8 Most Common Reasons It May Fail! – Chris Trondsen\, LMFT and Kimberley Quinlan\, LMFT \nThis talk will focus on two topics. The first is an overview of what everyone should expect and receive when engaging in frontline OCD treatments. We will lay out a clear trajectory of what top-notch OCD treatment should look like from start to finish and how to ensure that you are receiving adequate care. The information in this presentation is relevant whether you are new to a diagnosis and starting to seek out care\, or you have been in consistent OCD treatment for some time! \nThe second topic is identifying eight potential roadblocks you may be encountering\, even if you are in the right treatment. These roadblocks include inadequate clinician pacing\, meaning rushing a client into exposures prematurely and aggressively. Another is sessions turning into talk therapy with no active exposure during the treatment session. We will discuss these and six additional roadblocks we often see that lead to recurring errors in treatment and offer solutions. \nThe aim of this talk is to have audience members leave with a crystal-clear understanding of what proper OCD treatment looks like\, solutions for common pitfalls\, and increased knowledge on how one gets better from OCD treatment. This will address the age-old complaint that “OCD treatment did not work for me.” \nTo learn more about the special guest presenters for our July support group\, see their bios on our website: https://ocdsocal.org! \nWe look forward to seeing you Saturday\, July 18th from 11am to 1pm PT! To join\, simply email info@ocdsocal.org and ask for the Zoom link\, as well as share it with people with OCD—or anyone else interested.

SUMMARY:Supporting a Loved One with OCD: Understanding ERP and Family Involvement
DESCRIPTION:Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can be distressing and disruptive not only for the individual experiencing it\, but for the entire family system. This webinar offers an introduction to Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)\, the gold-standard\, evidence-based treatment for OCD. Designed for parents\, caregivers\, partners\, and other family members\, this session will break down how OCD works and how ERP helps interrupt the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Particular attention will be given to the important role families play in treatment\, including how loved ones can respond supportively and reduce accommodation behaviors that may unintentionally maintain OCD symptoms. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of ERP and practical strategies for supporting their loved one’s treatment journey at home.

Our next group is this Saturday\, June 13th\, from 11am to 1pm PT! \nPlease read the information for June 13th Family & Loved Ones’ OCD Support Group: \nAre you finding it difficult to maintain a loving relationship with the person in your life with OCD while at the same time creating boundaries so as not to give in to the disorder? As a supporter of a loved one with OCD\, one of the most difficult challenges is balancing having a close relationship with them while at the same time reducing accommodations\, reassurance giving\, and enabling of OCD. This topic is the main focus of our 2-hour support group for family members and loved ones this upcoming Saturday\, June 13th\, from 11am to 1pm PDT. \nWhether you are a parent of a young child\, a teenager\, a young adult\, or a full-grown adult\, this talk is for you. \nAre you a spouse or in a relationship with someone who has OCD\, or a sibling or loved one? This talk also has you covered! You\, too\, are trying to maintain a tight-knit relationship with someone you care for deeply but are also finding that you receive pushback when you refuse to drop your boundaries to give in to your loved one’s anxious demands. \nWe are joined by two special guest speakers\, expert clinicians Jennifer O’Connor\, Ph.D.\, and Elena Fasan\, MSW\, LCSW\, who will focus the discussion on the delicate balance of supporting your loved one without enabling or interfering with their treatment. \nHere is more information on the presentation\, including the title and description: \nSupportive Parenting in OCD: How to Stand Up to OCD While Holding onto Your Relationship with Your Loved One \nParents are the most powerful resource for their child with OCD during their recovery process\, but it can be very difficult to stand up to OCD’s demands while still holding onto a strong relationship with your loved one. The presenters will explore common reasons why parents and other caregivers struggle to reduce accommodations and support at-home exposures\, even when the importance of these steps is well understood. \nA clear formula for supportive parenting will be offered\, along with an opportunity to practice supportive communication through role playing. Attendees will leave with a greater understanding of how to reduce OCD’s presence in their children’s lives\, no matter their age or if they do or don’t live at home and boost their confidence in their ability to cope with distress—all while maintaining a strong emotional connection with them. Additionally\, there will be a discussion on how to be a supportive spouse\, sibling\, or family member to someone with OCD\, and the unique challenges that come with these roles. \nTo learn more about the special guest presenters for our June support group\, see their bios on our website: https://ocdsocal.org! \nWe look forward to seeing you this Saturday! SUMMARY:Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference on 4th + 5th June 2026\, London UK.
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference on 4th + 5th June 2026\, London UK.\n\n\n\nWelcome to the Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference! \nOrchard OCD is proud to host the largest international scientific conference in Europe dedicated entirely to Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD)\, made possible by a competitive Wellcome Trust award. This two-day milestone event will take place on 4–5 June 2026 at 30 Euston Square\, London\, UK\, with a clear mission: to catalyse breakthroughs in new and more effective OCD treatments and to advance early detection. \nWe’re bringing together leading researchers\, clinicians\, people with lived experience (PWLE)\, early-career scientists\, industry leaders and policymakers to set shared priorities and drive actionable solutions for OCD. \nThe programme explores cutting-edge themes – from predictive biomarkers and precision-medicine approaches\, to new molecular targets for more effective medications; from advances in neuromodulation and neurosurgery\, to the power of multimodal data and imaging for earlier detection; from breakthroughs in psychotherapy\, to a clear-eyed look at Large Language Models and what they mean – risks and opportunities – for future OCD research. \nThroughout the event\, all scientific content will be translated into clear\, accessible language for PWLE and their families\, as well as for scientists joining from different disciplines. Guided summaries\, live Q&A and concise take-home explainers will ensure everyone can follow the science and contribute meaningfully. \nBeyond the sessions\, the conference is designed for collaboration. SUMMARY:Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (MGH Online Course - June 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: June 15\, 2026 \nAvoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) was recently added to the Feeding and Eating Disorders section of DSM-5 to describe children\, adolescents\, and adults who do not eat enough food (by variety or volume)\, typically because of sensory sensitivity\, fear of aversive consequences (e.g.\, choking\, vomiting)\, and/or apparent lack of interest in eating or food. Although there is a robust literature on pediatric feeding disorders in very young children\, ARFID itself is so new that there is currently no evidence-based treatment for older children\, adolescents\, or adults. Thus\, our online course will fill an important gap for our colleagues who are already seeing such patients in clinical practice by providing specialized training in a new form of cognitive-behavioral therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR) that we have developed and refined at Massachusetts General Hospital for patients aged 10 through older adults.

SUMMARY:When Scary Things Happen: Supporting Your Child Through Difficult Times
DESCRIPTION:When tragedy strikes close to home\, children look to the adults in their lives to help them make sense of a world that suddenly feels uncertain and unsafe. As parents\, we want to say and do the right thing — but knowing where to start isn’t always easy. \nJoin us for When Scary Things Happen\, a one-hour conversation designed to help you support your child in the wake of frightening events in our community. Together\, we’ll explore how to open the door to honest\, age-appropriate conversations; how to create space for your child’s emotions without feeling like you need all the answers; and how to recognize when your child may need extra support. \nYou don’t have to have the perfect words. You just have to show up — and we’re here to help you do that. \nHosted by the Lisa Coyne\, Phd with the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety. All parents and caregivers are welcome. Thursday 5/28\, 5:30 – 6:30\, via Zoom.
