SUMMARY:MGH 4-week Online CBT for OCD training (Beginning 10/6)
DESCRIPTION:We wanted to let you know that Massachusetts General Hospital is running a 4-week intro-level online course on CBT for OCD beginning October 6th (registration deadline October 20th). Even though ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD\, too few clinicians are trained in it. This course aims to close that gap and is geared towards providers early in their career\, those who want to expand their practice to include OCD\, and those who want a refresher. \nFaculty include:\n• Sabine Wilhelm\, PhD (Chief of Psychology\, Director of the Center for OCD and Related Disorders\, MGH)\n• Ryan Jacoby\, PhD (Assistant Director of the Center for OCD and Related Disorders\, MGH) \nThe course format includes on-demand video modules\, a faculty-moderated discussion board\, plus live Q&A. The format is also flexible\, allowing you to progress at your own pace until the course end date on November 17th. You can receive 10 CE Credits for participation. \nDetails: https://lms.mghcme.org/CBTocdOct2025 \nWe hope that you will join us!

SUMMARY:Family and Loved Ones Virtual OCD Support Group!
DESCRIPTION:Join our support group this Saturday\, September 13 from 11AM – 1 PM PT. Email: info@ocdsocal.org and request Saturday’s support group’s link! \nFor our September Family & Loved Ones OCD Support Group\, we are happy to welcome Kimberley Quinlan\, LMFT\, one of the leading voices in the OCD community. Besides having a successful private practice specializing in OCD and related disorders\, she also has a popular podcast\, “Your Anxiety Toolkit.” \nShe joins us as both a clinician and a mom with personal experience of what to do when a loved one is suffering. Titled “From Loved One to Loved One: What to Do When Your Loved One is Struggling.” Kimberley will walk through what she did when her daughter recently had a sudden and intense onset of various mental health struggles. Kimberley will lay out exactly how she handled her daughter’s crisis situation-how she jumped in and found the right resources and the right therapist to help her daughter. She will also share what she does now to help her daughter maintain her wellness. \nThen Kimberley will discuss how she navigated her own OCD and PTSD that came about watching her daughter struggle. This part of her presentation will help you\, the loved one\, learn to manage your own anxiety and give self-care tips on managing the impact on the supporter of someone with OCD. \nLastly\, she will discuss what your roles are to initiate action and create a plan to help your loved one be open to\, and get\, mental health treatment. She will also stay for the Q & A where she will answer any of your questions! \nJoin us as we help you create a treatment and action plan to support your loved one with OCD\, as well as get your questions answered!

SUMMARY:Where Lines Blur: Ethical Decision-Making in the Overlap of OCD and Eating Disorders
DESCRIPTION:Eating disorders (EDs) in children and adolescents often present with overlapping features of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)\, complicating both diagnosis and treatment. This presentation explores the nuanced relationship between OCD and EDs\, highlighting common ethical concerns about treatment direction and scope of practice to improve clinical outcomes. We will examine how OCD symptoms such as contamination fears\, moral rigidity\, and perfectionism can morph into or exacerbate eating pathology. Using current research\, clinical decision trees\, and case examples\, Dr. Allison Chase and Dr. Jessica Tauber will provide guidance on how to navigate the complexity between EDs and OCD. Participants will be given tools to differentiate both symptoms and treatment approaches. Ethical considerations including responsible assessment and treatment planning will be discussed and highlighted in the challenges of treating these disorders.

We have more information on our registration page: https://ocdconference.eventbrite.com \nOur Super Early Bird registration is from August 1 – August 31. This is our lowest cost registration at only $20 per person for admission to this two-day event. For professionals (LMFT\, LPCC\, LCSW\, and psychologists) seeking continuing education credits\, we’re offering 8.75 CEs during early bird registration for only $60. This covers your CEs and attendance. \nIf you visit our website\, www.ocdsocal.org/conference\, we have posted the agenda that includes talk descriptions\, speakers\, our different conference tracks\, and additional information. Make sure to email info@ocdsocal.org with any questions\, as well as to request to be added to our mailing list as we continue to pump out more information about our November event. We will be sending you more information on our keynote speakers\, the full program\, and more details in the very near future. The low cost of registration is to cover the event as we are working with an expert event team that is building our conference website and event platform. We will be utilizing Zoom for this conference\, so if you’re comfortable with Zoom\, the conference will be familiar to you and easy to navigate! \nRegister ASAP to take advantage of our lowest cost registration and make sure to email us at scholarships@ocdsocal.org if cost is a factor and you’d like to request a scholarship ticket for attendance. Our Board of Directors and conference committee thank you for your interest! We look forward to seeing you on November 15th and 16th! All presentations will be recorded\, and you will have 60 days to access the recordings if you are registered.
