SUMMARY:Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder: An Online Introduction (November 2025)
DESCRIPTION:Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) was recently added to the Feeding and Eating Disorders section of DSM-5 to describe children\, adolescents\, and adults who do not eat enough food (by variety or volume)\, typically because of sensory sensitivity\, fear of aversive consequences (e.g.\, choking\, vomiting)\, and/or apparent lack of interest in eating or food. Although there is a robust literature on pediatric feeding disorders in very young children\, ARFID itself is so new that there is currently no evidence-based treatment for older children\, adolescents\, or adults. Thus\, our online course will fill an important gap for our colleagues who are already seeing such patients in clinical practice by providing specialized training in a new form of cognitive-behavioral therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR) that we have developed and refined at Massachusetts General Hospital for patients aged 10 through older adults. E\narly data from our preliminary efficacy studies indicate that\, on average\, patients who receive CBT-AR incorporate many novel foods into their regular diets\, gain significant weight (if underweight)\, and significantly reduce both ARFID symptom severity and food neophobia. Our 6-week course will cover the assessment of ARFID and determining patient appropriateness of CBT-AR\, as well as the implementation of all four stages of this flexible\, modular treatment. Material will be drawn from our recently published books\n(Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder: Children\, Adolescents\, and Adults\, Cambridge University Press\, 2019; and The Picky Eater’s Recovery Book: Overcoming Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder\, Cambridge University Press\, 2021)\, cases we have seen in our clinical practice\, and our ongoing research studies on the neurobiology and treatment of ARFID. \nCourse materials are available beginning on November 3\, 2025\, and all online coursework must be completed by December 29\, 2025. \nPricing\nRegistration Deadline: November 17\, 2025 \nPhysicians and Doctoral-level Professionals: $445.00\nOther Professionals: $345.00

SUMMARY:Family and Loved One's Online OCD Support Group!
DESCRIPTION:Join our support group this Saturday\, November 8th from 11AM – 1 PM PST. Email: info@ocdsocal.org and request Saturday’s support group’s link! We meet virtually every second Saturday of the month. \nFor our November Family & Loved Ones OCD Support Group\, we are happy to welcome Liz McIngvale\, Ph.D.\, LCSW\, one of the leading voices in the OCD community. In addition to being the Director of the OCD Institute of Texas\, a residential treatment center that specializes in OCD and related disorders\, she also has a popular podcast\, “Anxiety Society\,” co-hosts the IOCDF’s “Ask the Experts” livestreams with Chris Trondsen\, LMFT\, advocates for OCD\, and is on the IOCDF Board of Directors. \nTitled “Navigating Effective Treatment: From Functioning to Freedom\,” Dr. Liz McIngvale will inform family members\, spouses\, and loved ones about the top-notch\, effective\, frontline OCD treatments their loved one with OCD should receive. Dr. McIngvale will also advise what to expect from ERP\, medication\, and adjunctive treatments. She will explain your role during treatment and outline accurate expectations\, outcomes\, and timelines for recovery. Typical roadblocks to care will be discussed\, along with signs your loved one is not with the right provider\, when to switch therapists\, and how to know when higher levels of care are needed. \nIn addition to her clinical experience\, she will share treatment lessons from her own lived experience with the disorder. As a severe case of OCD\, her family came together to ensure Liz received the best care possible. She will pass on those lessons to you\, the attendee. \nYou will leave with a clear understanding of what effective care looks like and what to expect during OCD treatment. You’ll know what your loved one’s treatment will involve\, the difference between effective and ineffective care\, and when to make adjustments to their treatment. Dr. McIngvale will cover common roadblocks and provide guidance on how to ensure you are on the right path. Following the presentation\, Dr. Liz McIngvale will be available for a Q & A where she will answer any of your questions! \nWe will see you this Saturday\, November 8th\, from 11am to 1pm PST! Make sure to email info@ocdsocal.org to receive the Zoom link and visit www.ocdsocal.org for more information!
