SUMMARY:Understanding OCD: Foundations\, Misconceptions\, and the Power of Exposure and Response Prevention
DESCRIPTION:Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a complex condition\, and our understanding of its presentation and treatment continues to evolve. This webinar provides an evidence-based overview of the foundations of OCD\, common clinical barriers to effective treatment\, and the rationale for Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as the gold-standard intervention. We will examine how intrusive thoughts differ from typical worry\, why compulsions persist despite insight into their irrationality\, and how avoidance and reassurance-seeking maintain the OCD cycle. The session emphasizes a functional understanding of symptoms to guide effective intervention.

SUMMARY:Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (MGH Online Course - June 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: June 15\, 2026 \nAvoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) was recently added to the Feeding and Eating Disorders section of DSM-5 to describe children\, adolescents\, and adults who do not eat enough food (by variety or volume)\, typically because of sensory sensitivity\, fear of aversive consequences (e.g.\, choking\, vomiting)\, and/or apparent lack of interest in eating or food. Although there is a robust literature on pediatric feeding disorders in very young children\, ARFID itself is so new that there is currently no evidence-based treatment for older children\, adolescents\, or adults. Thus\, our online course will fill an important gap for our colleagues who are already seeing such patients in clinical practice by providing specialized training in a new form of cognitive-behavioral therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR) that we have developed and refined at Massachusetts General Hospital for patients aged 10 through older adults.

SUMMARY:Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference on 4th + 5th June 2026\, London UK.
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference on 4th + 5th June 2026\, London UK.\n\n\n\nWelcome to the Orchard OCD International Scientific Conference! \nOrchard OCD is proud to host the largest international scientific conference in Europe dedicated entirely to Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD)\, made possible by a competitive Wellcome Trust award. This two-day milestone event will take place on 4–5 June 2026 at 30 Euston Square\, London\, UK\, with a clear mission: to catalyse breakthroughs in new and more effective OCD treatments and to advance early detection. \nWe’re bringing together leading researchers\, clinicians\, people with lived experience (PWLE)\, early-career scientists\, industry leaders and policymakers to set shared priorities and drive actionable solutions for OCD. \nThe programme explores cutting-edge themes – from predictive biomarkers and precision-medicine approaches\, to new molecular targets for more effective medications; from advances in neuromodulation and neurosurgery\, to the power of multimodal data and imaging for earlier detection; from breakthroughs in psychotherapy\, to a clear-eyed look at Large Language Models and what they mean – risks and opportunities – for future OCD research. \nThroughout the event\, all scientific content will be translated into clear\, accessible language for PWLE and their families\, as well as for scientists joining from different disciplines. Guided summaries\, live Q&A and concise take-home explainers will ensure everyone can follow the science and contribute meaningfully. \nBeyond the sessions\, the conference is designed for collaboration. Expect a lot of networking opportunities\, facilitated panel discussions\, and poster interactions with brilliant Early Career Researchers\, which will actively help shape the future research agenda in OCD. \nThis conference is a unique\, patient-centred opportunity aligned with Orchard OCD’s and the Wellcome Trust’s shared vision for transformative and inclusive mental health science. Tickets are limited and demand is expected to be high\, so secure your place now to avoid missing out. \n\n\n  \nHome
