SUMMARY:Family and Loved One’s Virtual OCD Support Group!
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join us on Saturday\, April 12th\, from 11 am to 1 pm PT for our monthly\, free\, virtual Family and Loved One’s OCD Support Group! This support group is for family members\, parents\, loved ones\, spouses\, and anyone supporting someone with OCD! Additionally\, if someone with OCD and related disorders would like to join us or a mental health professional wanting to learn more about OCD\, you are invited as well. Since this event is virtual\, anyone from anywhere can join us! To get the Zoom link for April 12th’s support group\, PLEASE EMAIL: info@ocdsocal.org. Let us know in the email you would like the Zoom link\, and please include any additional email addresses to which you would like us to send the Zoom link! \nFor our April 12th support group\, we are thrilled to welcome four young adults who have overcome OCD and are living fulfilled lives. They have gone on to lead the IOCDF Young Adult Special Interest Group (SIG). Kyle King\, Sidney Lodge\, Jessie Birnbaum\, and Victoria Lane suffered from severe OCD\, received evidence-based therapy\, and now give back through advocacy\, with a few of them becoming therapists specializing in OCD treatment themselves! \nThey want to focus on what their family and loved ones did that helped their recovery\, as well as share what did not work to help guide you on how to support the person in your life with OCD. \nThe four young adult guest speakers will also share their inspirational stories of how they overcame OCD and answer all your questions! This group will focus on the Q&A\, so we will have plenty of time for your questions! This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn. We encourage your loved one with OCD to join us to hear from those in recovery – and for parents and loved ones to find out how they can better help their loved ones on their recovery journey. \nThis support group meets every second Saturday of the month from 11 am to 1 pm PT. It features families and individuals who have overcome their OCD and share their journey. Additionally\, we have special guest researchers\, psychiatrists\, authors\, treatment providers\, and other special guests each month. We hope to see you Saturday\, April 12th\, at 11 am PT. Please email us at info@ocdsocal.org to be on our mailing list and receive the April support group’s Zoom link!

SUMMARY:Anxiety Club documentary screening
DESCRIPTION:Anxiety’s a hell of a thing. But it also makes for some great material. From Emmy Award-winning producer Wendy Lobel (Nick News) comes this peek behind the curtain as a group of comedians—Marc Maron and Aparna Nancherla among them—share stories of how they turned trauma and angst into art. \nANXIETY CLUB provides an intimate and humorous look at anxiety through the eyes and minds of some of today’s most brilliant comedians\, including Tiffany Jenkins\, Joe List\, Marc Maron\, Aparna Nancherla\, Mark Normand\, Baron Vaughn\, and Eva Victor. Through exclusive interviews\, stand-up performances\, sketch videos\, therapy\, and everyday life\, they share their personal relationships with anxiety. With rare access to private therapy sessions\, the film follows Tiffany Jenkins—a comedian and author with millions of followers—as she undergoes the often grueling process of exposure therapy\, capturing the transformative impact of her treatment. World-renowned meditation teacher and author Tara Brach\, Ph.D.\, guides one comedian through meditation to help him transcend his fears and anxieties\, while others find support from The Laugh Factory’s psychologist-in-residence and mentors in the comedy community. Each comedian in ANXIETY CLUB has created stand-up or sketch material about their mental health that is not only funny but uniquely relatable and disarming to audiences. By blending vulnerability with humor\, these comedians offer powerful insight into anxiety\, the world’s most prevalent mental health condition\, affecting more than 300 million people globally. \nContent Warning: This film contains material that may be difficult for some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. \nONLINE Q&A WITH THE cast & crew after the sreening

SUMMARY:OCD from a DEI Lens: Important considerations when working with BIPOC clients
DESCRIPTION:Virtual CE event presented by OCDCSFL and OCD Texas \nPresenters: Marcia Rabinowits\, PsyD\, Darlene Davis Goodwine\, PhD and Ogechi Onyeka\, PhD \nDescription : Although Black Americans and Hispanics/Latinx people experience Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) at similar rates to other ethnic groups\, OCD remains under-treated and under-researched within these communities. Several sociocultural risk factors are well-documented in the literature\, however limited resources have been allocated and have examined how to best address these challenges. These findings underscore the need to explore approaches to increase treatment access and address factors that inform barriers to help-seeking and treatment engagement for minority population in the U.S. with OCD. This talk will provide a contextual understanding of the underrepresentation of Black and Hispanic individuals across the lifespan in OCD research and treatment\, emphasizing OCD awareness and treatment engagement. \nRegistration Information\nEarly Bird Registration through May 14\, 2025:  $20.00\nIOCDF Member $25.00\nNon-Member $30.00\nStudent $15.00\nSign Up Here

SUMMARY:STRONGER TOGETHER: A TEAM APPROACH TO OCD TREATMENT. FREE\, VIRTUAL EVENT JUNE 14!
DESCRIPTION:We know that OCD is a debilitating disorder and\, in order to get better\, you need a support team. This upcoming Saturday\, June 14\, from 11 AM to 1 PM PT\, we are putting together an all-star panel consisting of people that represent different parts of a treatment recovery team. This panel will help attendees understand their role and the importance of available resources. This panel will consist of clinicians treating OCD\, a psychiatrist\, people with OCD\, as well as parents\, family members\, and loved ones of people with the disorder. \nTo join the event\, please email: info@ocdsocal.org\, and ask for the June 14th Zoom link. Please include all the email addresses you would like the Zoom link to go to. \nAt OCD SoCal\, we have been running a free\, family and loved one’s support group for the past 13 years every second Saturday of the month. The support group and OCD Southern California are collaborating to bring you this special event! \nWe will start with the panelists having an open\, moderated\, roundtable discussion about everyone’s role in OCD treatment and how each discipline brings something special to the team. Then we will spend a majority of the time on a Q&A to allow you to ask questions to help navigate your own recovery journey. It’s a major event with a lot of expertise that you don’t want to miss! \nOn Wednesday\, June 11th\, we will send out an email with the Zoom link for the event and also have the list of all the speakers. We will re-send the Zoom link early on the morning of the event on June 14th\, so if you sign up after the 11th\, you will receive the link the morning of the event. We hope to see you there on Saturday\, June 14th! \nIn order to foster a safe community\, we do not record the support group. This allows attendees the opportunity to share their experiences and ask questions in a safe space. We encourage you to attend or listen in to the support group live on Saturday. \nWe look forward to seeing you at the event! If you would like to attend\, please email info@ocdsocal.org and include any email addresses you want the Zoom link for the event to be sent to.
