Narrative of Services:
At Anxiety Solutions, we strive to provide “compassionate care combined with evidence-guided practice”. For OCD, that means our first-line treatment is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the CBT with the strongest research base for effectiveness. At the same time, ours is a true “mom and pop” enterprise. My husband and I are the only therapists and we strive to develop personal, warm, and supportive therapeutic relationships. Our offices are in a charming, early 1800’s building next to a babbling brook, and our landlord has two furnished apartments available upstairs for those interested in our “intensive” outpatient program.
I joined the Center for Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) in May 1995 where I provided assessment and treatment in studies of CBT for anxiety disorders (including ERP for OCD). I graduated with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from University of Delaware in May 1996 and continued at CTSA through August 2000, co-authoring several papers. Meanwhile, I joined the IOCDF and its Scientific Advisory Board, as well as the faculty for several IOCDF Behavioral Therapy Training Institutes. In November 1998, I became Children’s Program Director at Anxiety and Agoraphobia Treatment Center and co-authored parental workbook “Helping Your Child with OCD”. In March 2004, I co-founded Anxiety Solutions, now based in Maine.
