Michelle Knight, LICSW, PIP, CREP
Narrative of Services:
Most people who come to me struggle with more then one issue such as a combination of the following but not limited to: eating disorders, trauma, gambling/substance addiction, severe anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and many more.
As someone who struggled with OCD symptoms as a child, I understand the frustration that comes with OCD behaviors and feeling out of control when not engaging in ritualistic behaviors that often reduce related symptoms of anxiety. All of my clients are welcomed with open arms, empathy, and are asked to come as they are and be involved in their own treatment program.
I have experience in working with individuals from the Asian, Arabic, Latin American, African American, and Caucasian communities.
I am a graduate from the University of Montevallo (2007) and The University of Alabama (2010). My experience includes working in the psychiatric hospital setting, inpatient and outpatient treatment for OCD behaviors, drug and alcohol addiction, working with at-risk adolescents, family preservation work, therapeutic foster care, and residential treatment for women with mental health issues and eating disordered behaviors. I also treat individuals in the LGBT community and through my education and 11 years of practice experience I have developed cultural competency in working with many diverse populations.
