Narrative of Services:
The majority of my patients in private practice have OCD or OCD spectrum disorders. The mainstay of the treatment is Cognitive Behavior Therapy, specifically Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). All treatment is typically done hierarchically, beginning with easier exposures and working up to more difficult ones. I also believe that education is an important part of effective treatment. When someone understands their OCD, they are in a stronger position to deal with it. The goal of treatment is for a person to be able to lead a fuller, richer, and more meaningful life than what OCD typically allows.
I am a Registered Nurse and a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have worked in the field of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) since 1987 in a clinical and a research setting. I am both therapist and program coordinator for the UCLA OCD Intensive Treatment Program. I was also involved in the UCLA OCD Research Program for 15 years. I am co-author or author on over 30 OCD related publications and have presented extensively on this disorder. This diverse experience has been instrumental in allowing me to maintain a small private practice where the majority of my patients have OCD.
