Harris McCarter, PhD
Narrative of Services:
OCD has always been among my main interests. I’ve lectured and published on the evidence-based, relationally informed treatment of OCD, and on its evolutionary psychology and relationship to adaptive functioning. I’ve treated over 50 OCD patients in individual psychotherapy and have supervised or served as a consultant on the treatment of a similar number.
I received my PhD from Boston University in 1988. Early on, I was among the founding faculty of the Behavioral Medicine Program at The Cambridge Hospital, in Cambridge Massachusetts, serving at times as Coordinator of Anxiety Disorders Treatments and as Director of Behavioral Medicine Training. I continued on the hospital staff until 2005, serving in various administrative, teaching and supervisory capacities. Currently I am in private practice.
