Michael Parker, LCSW
Narrative of Services:
I offer individual and family therapy for children and adolescents as well as adults. My primary specialty is in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related anxiety disorders such as social anxiety, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. I utilize the evidence-based approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). These techniques are the gold standards for treating OCD and anxiety. I take a very warm and relaxed approach to working with my clients. I also try to keep things fun whenever appropriate, especially with children.
I am a graduate of both the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute’s (BTTI) General and Pediatric training programs, which provide cutting edge instruction on the treatment of OCD and anxiety. I have over 15 years of experience in various mental health settings, including the Pediatric OCD Intensive Outpatient Program in Pittsburgh, The Portland State University Counseling Center, the mobile mental health crisis team of Portland, Oregon, an intensive parent training program in Brooklyn, NY, and my private practice. I am a member of the International OCD Foundation, the OCD Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, and the National Association of Social Workers.
