Narrative of Services:
Dr. Pence is currently in private practice in the Tampa Bay area where he is providing weekly and intensive outpatient cognitive behavior interventions. 85% of Dr. Pence’s patients have OCD and/or related anxiety disorders. Dr. Pence provides a comprehensive psychological research-supported assessment to track symptom severity, assess comorbid psychiatric conditions, and assess the patient's developmental, medical, biological, social, educational, and cognitive functioning. In addition, the assessment is utilized in measuring treatment outcomes. Treatment models include: Exposure and Response Prevention, Habit Reversal Training, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Restructuring, Education for Individuals & Family, and Follow-Up Care Resources.
Dr. Pence is a licensed psychologist specializing in CBT for OCD and anxiety treatment. Dr. Pence earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University and completed a fellowship at UF in the Psychiatry Department. He later joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the USF Rothman Center for Neuropsychiatry. Dr. Pence has experience working with Inpatient Units, Detox Units, and in the Emergency Department. Dr. Pence has supervisory and teaching experience. He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and is interested in examining variables that may impact treatment response including psychiatric comorbidity, patient insight, the working alliance, and perfectionism.
