Erika Penner PhD, RPsych
Dr. Penner’s primary therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioural (CBT), although for the treatment of OCD and related disorders she relies more heavily on behavioural therapies such as exposure and response prevention and habit reversal. She also integrates mindfulness techniques, motivational interviewing, and dialectical behaviour therapy principles into treatment as needed to support successful outcomes. As a psychologist who is active in training, research, and continuing education, she is committed to providing treatments that are driven by the latest research and best practice guidelines.
Dr. Penner is a registered psychologist with cross-appointments at BC Children’s Hospital, Simon Fraser University, and the Child & Family Research Institute. In her private practice, she sees children, adolescents, and adults with obsessive compulsive disorder as well as anxiety and related disorders (e.g., selective mutism, perfectionism, generalized anxiety, trichotillomania, separation anxiety, etc.).
