Narrative of Services:

Dr. Sharp utilizes cognitive-behavioral treatment approaches to empower clients to end the struggle with maladaptive thoughts and behavioral patterns and cultivate a meaningful and valued life. She draws heavily from acceptance and commitment therapy and other mindfulness and compassion-based therapies for her practice. Dr. Sharp specializes in exposure-based therapies including exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD. She believes strongly in utilizing short-term, evidence-based interventions and equipping clients with the skills and tools they need to move forward with valued living outside of therapy. Evening and some weekend appointments are offered, and intensive outpatient treatment is available when needed.

Training Description:

Dr. Sharp is a clinical psychologist specializing in solution-focused treatment for anxiety and OCD. She works in group practice at Dallas CBT, an outpatient therapy clinic dedicated to empirically-supported treatments. Dr. Sharp received her PhD from University of Kansas, where her research focused on the relationship between therapist empathy and client outcomes. Her clinical training focused on CBT and exposure therapies in settings including University of Kansas Psychological Clinic, Kansas City VA, and UK Medical Center. Dr. Sharp’s internship experience at the Central Iowa VA included extensive training in empirically-supported treatments for PTSD including Prolonged Exposure and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

Dr. Katie Sharp has completed multicultural competence training as part of her APA-accredited graduate school, internship program, and through her ongoing continuing education. She has worked with diverse populations in numerous settings including several outpatient mental health clinics, a medical center, and a Veteran’s administration hospital. She prioritizes the ongoing development of multicultural humility and actively seeks out continuing education in working with diverse groups.
