Carole P. Smith, PhD
Narrative of Services:
I am an independed consultant in private practice at Western Reserve Psychological Associates. There are 12 psychologists in the practice and several of us have treated OCD clients. I am the only one who has attended a training institute sponsored by the IOCDF. I see a wide range of adults and couples and have a special interest in anxiety disorders, including OCD, scrupulosity, panic attacks, and social anxiety. My emphasis for OCD is ERP supplemented with CBT. I have also found ACT to be helpful recently. I have Master Practitioner credentials in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and find it helpful at times as well.
PhD in Clinical Psychology in 1980 from Kent State University in Ohio. Internships at Brecksville VA Hospital in Ohio and Akron Child Guidance. In private practice part time since 1981 at Western Reserve Psychological Associates until present. Worked part time at Tabor House, the Cleveland Catholic Diocesan Counseling Center from 1991-1996 (it is now closed). This is where I became interested in the problem of scrupulosity. I also attended the IOCDF Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) in 200. I see 1-2 people each year with OCD as the primary target.
