Narrative of Services:
While I absolutely use ERP as the front and center approach for OCD symptom reduction, once symptoms have stabilized I use a variety of other lenses (humanistic, existential, bio-psycho-social, psychodynamic) to understand other aspects of my patients and to promote optimal adjustment and well-being. I frequently work with people who also have other anxiety disorders, and those who have co-occurring mood disorders, psychosis, or substance abuse. Treatment options are both individual and group. Roughly thirty-percent of my practice is devoted to OCD diagnosis and treatment.
I have been treating patients with OCD for well over a decade. For initial symptom relief, I have found that ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) is generally a highly effective, necessary component of the work, with or without medication. I work with both very clear behavioral compulsions as well as with more hidden thought compulsions (e.g. compulsive thought review/checking, repetitive self-reassuring).
