The Thriving Child Center clinic offers numerous evidence-based treatments, including exposure and response prevention (ERP), CBT, ACT, DBT, and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I modify PCIT in order to incorporate exposure work for children under the age of 7 years-old. I usually carry a caseload of 5-10 patients with OCD per year.
I attended the three-day training (BTTI) on exposure and response prevention and cognitive behavioral therapy for OCD. Since attending the BTTI, I have continued to attend trainings to enhance my knowledge of treatments for OCD and body focused repetitive behaviors. I have also attended trainings to incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based therapies in to exposure work with adolescents and adults with OCD.
I have been able to utilize and modify evidence-based treatments with underserved populations and utilized different treatments in a refugee clinic, including exposure and response prevention for children and adolescents with OCD.
Since deciding to enter the field of psychology, I have made it a personal mission to remove barriers for individuals from underserved populations to access psychological care by doing outreach, working in clinics that focus on providing care to underserved and diverse populations, and carrying pro-bono clients on my caseload.
