Anxiety Center of Tampa’s co-founders, Lori Aitken and Mary Eugenia-Brizuela met while working at Rogers Behavioral Health in Tampa under the supervision of Dr. Eric Storch, an internationally recognized leader in the field of OCD treatment.

Both Mary and Lori have completed IOCDF’s Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI). Lori is proud to serve on the Board of Directors of IOCDF’s Central and South Florida chapter.

Anxiety Center of Tampa was founded in 2018, with the mission of providing high-quality individualized treatment for clients with OCD and anxiety-related disorders. The Center provides traditional outpatient treatment including individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Intensive treatment plans and In-home treatment are also available.

Anxiety Center of Tampa has grown to include six clinicians from diverse backgrounds with a variety of experience. All clinicians have received advanced training and supervision in the treatment of OCD and related disorders.

Lori and other clinicians are now offering Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for OCD (ICBT). While newer than ERP, ICBT is an evidence-based approach long popular in Europe and Canada. It can be a good option for those who have not fully benefitted from ERP, or are reluctant to do exposure therapy.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

All clients are preliminarily screened for the presence of co-occurring disorders as part of the initial phone call and intake paperwork. Where appropriate, clients are assigned to clinicians with expertise in the client’s co-occurring disorder. If the clinician, in consultation with others in the practice, feels that the client’s issues are outside the scope of competency, referrals will be made to other providers.
