Exposure Therapy Through A Virtual Lens: The Use of Virtual Reality in the Treatment of Anxiety Disorders in Adolescents and Young Adults
October 18, 2023 at 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT
This webinar introduces and explores the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as a viable tool for Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP). It serves as an introduction for professionals looking to better understand the use of Virtual Reality within a clinical setting. Although VR can be used across age ranges, this webinar focuses on adolescents and young adults with anxiety. The material reviews the history, capabilities, benefits, and limitations of this innovative mode of treatment. It includes anecdotal experience from a practicing exposure coach and a therapeutic technology specialist who have both used Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy in session. There will be multiple demonstrations of what VR exposures and mindfulness activities look like, from both a client’s and provider’s perspective.
