Narrative of Services:

Do you feel stuck? Maybe your secular counselor didn’t seem to understand your faith or your Christian counselor didn’t seem to understand your OCD. Maybe ERP was helpful for some things, but now you are struggling with lots of mental compulsions that are hard to get a handle on. I specialize in working with Christians who are dealing with scrupulosity. I am respectful of faith while also providing strong clinical guidance. I believe you can have all of Jesus and all of therapy together.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I specialize in treating individuals who have experienced trauma that is exacerbating their OCD. I combine EMDR for trauma and ICBT for OCD.

Training Description:

It’s been a long, winding path that’s led me into OCD work. I’ve been a trauma counselor for many years who got into working primarily with OCD about three years ago. I have a podcast called Christian Faith and OCD. I’ve been trained in ICBT through the OCD training school and have sought supervision from pioneers in spreading ICBT to the US. Most of my clients are looking for alternatives to ERP due to negative experience or lack of effectiveness. I have received training in ComB for picking/pulling although I have only worked with skin picking historically.

Diversity Statement:

I have worked with many different races/ethnicities in my time as a therapist. Smyrna has a significant refugee and immigrant population.

I have worked with many different Christian sects/denomination- everything from Mennonite, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Catholic, Baptist, and non-denominational. When working with issues of faith and culture, it’s important for me to ask lots of questions about what people believe, so I can understand where they are coming from as no two backgrounds are exactly the same.
