Description:

Through the generous donation by Mr. Frederick W. Thompson the Fredrick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre opened its doors in 2013 with the goal of making a difference in the lives of those suffering from Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders. The Thompson Centre is Canada’s only centre specializing in OCD and Related Disorders. The Centre is an innovator in research, education and clinical care for obsessive compulsive and related disorders. Our services include outpatient, day hospital and residential treatment interventions. We provide OCD-specific group-based cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, psychopharmacology and consultations with our team of psychiatrists. We also provide CBT-specific groups for hoarding disorder, hair-pulling disorder, skin-picking disorder, and body dysmorphic disorder. We run the only residential treatment program for OCD in Canada, currently offering a virtual day hospital option in addition to on-site residential treatment. Our team of licensed health care professionals provides a culturally sensitive approach to treatment in a welcoming environment.

Diversity Statement

We have no specific cultural inclusion within our clinic. That being said all our practicing clinicians are sensitive to culture diversity and need and we welcome diversity within our practice. The Canadian population is highly diverse and we see clientele from a variety of different backgrounds and ethnic groups.

In order to become a regulated health profession in Canada, one must demonstrate cultural competency with respect to working with diverse populations. Therefore, all of our clinicians have been trained in this regard through both formal and informal education as well as supervised practice placements. For some of our regulated professionals, cultural competency must be demonstrated during professional licensing exams as well.
