The Kentucky Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders (KY-CARDS) is a specialty outpatient practice in Louisville, Kentucky, providing evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, and related conditions. Founded and directed by licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Kevin Chapman, KY-CARDS emphasizes structured, time-limited Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and exposure-based treatment. Dr. Chapman is a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, serves on the International OCD Foundation’s Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board, and is a faculty member of the IOCDF Behavior Therapy Training Institute.
For OCD, KY-CARDS provides Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), with treatment individualized to each client’s symptoms, goals, and functional needs. Care is active and collaborative and may include in-office, community-based, or in-home exposure work when clinically appropriate. The multidisciplinary team includes psychologists, licensed clinical mental health professionals, and supervised graduate trainees with specialized training in anxiety and OCD treatment. Services are available for adults, children, adolescents, and families.
KY-CARDS primarily provides outpatient care, including standard weekly treatment and more focused or intensive treatment options for clients who may benefit from a higher frequency of exposure-based work. Treatment emphasizes measurable progress, skill development, and increasing independence rather than indefinite therapy. Following completion of treatment, clients may return for periodic booster sessions to reinforce skills and support maintenance of gains.
