Narrative of Services:

Houston Mind & Brain is an interventional psychiatry practice specializing in treatment-resistant depression and OCD. Approximately 20% of our patients have OCD or a related disorder. Services include psychiatric evaluation and medication management, often as a second opinion after multiple medication trials, along with individual therapy and Deep TMS for OCD. Our TMS protocol includes the individualized symptom provocation used in the original clinical trials, and we are one of the few Houston practices accepting insurance for Deep TMS for OCD. We also conduct clinical research and refer to colleagues at Baylor when needed.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Many of our OCD patients also have depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, or bipolar disorder, and we treat these within the same practice. A psychiatric provider leads care and manages medications, and individual therapy, including EMDR for trauma, is available in-house. For treatment-resistant cases, we offer Deep TMS, which is FDA-cleared for both OCD and depression, as well as Spravato and intranasal ketamine for depression. Patients receiving TMS or ketamine are discussed in team case reviews, typically weekly, so their medication, therapy, and neuromodulation plans stay coordinated.

Training Description:

Dr. Raymond Cho is a board-certified psychiatrist and Professor of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine. Before founding Houston Mind & Brain, he built the TMS programs at Baylor, UTHealth, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. He participates in clinical research on deep brain stimulation for treatment-refractory OCD at Baylor and is an author on hundreds of peer-reviewed publications. Our TMS technicians are BrainsWay-certified in Deep TMS and complete an additional internal training protocol developed by Dr. Cho that goes beyond the manufacturer standard.
