Narrative of Services:

Counter Practice Therapy provides individual telehealth counseling for adolescents and adults throughout Texas, with a primary focus on OCD and anxiety. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients reduce compulsive behaviors, approach feared situations, and pursue meaningful goals. I also offer LGBTQ+ affirming support around identity, relationships, and life transitions. Services include collaborative treatment planning and between-session practice. I offer private-pay sessions and limited sliding-scale availability.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I work with co-occurring anxiety disorders and have experience supporting clients with tics. Treatment is individualized, using ERP, CBT, and ACT to address OCD, anxiety, avoidance, and related distress. My approach includes collaborative goal setting, psychoeducation, and between-session practice. I consider how co-occurring symptoms affect treatment participation and adapt interventions accordingly. I practice under the supervision of an OCD specialist and coordinate with other providers or refer for additional treatment when needs fall outside my scope.

Training Description:

I am a Texas LPC-Associate with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Methodist University. My OCD-specific training includes NOCD Academy continuing education and CBT School’s Clinician’s OCD Toolkit, a seven-hour continuing education course. During my clinical internship, I treated clients with OCD using exposure-based interventions and incorporated ACT and CBT into work with anxiety. I receive ongoing clinical supervision from an OCD specialist to support case conceptualization, ERP planning, and treatment delivery.

Diversity Statement:

My graduate education included coursework in multicultural counseling and counseling transgender clients. During my internship at Resource Center, an LGBTQ+ nonprofit in Dallas, I provided individual counseling and facilitated groups for LGBTQ+ adults, including older adults and gender-nonconforming individuals. This work deepened my understanding of minority stress, identity development, and barriers to care. I approach treatment with cultural humility, exploring how each client’s identities, background, and experiences shape their concerns and goals. My practice emphasizes LGBTQ+ affirming care and adapts OCD and anxiety treatment to each client’s circumstances.
