Mikala A. Grimaldi
Narrative of Services:
I have a passion for working with school-aged children, teens, and young adults seeking relief from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders (including selective mutism), and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs; hair-pulling and skin-picking). I am committed to providing individually tailored, evidence-based care that builds upon my clients’ strengths. With empathy and compassion, I aim to create a safe, fun, and inclusive space for children and young adults to build a life they love.
100% of my practice focuses on OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. We at the NECOA offer outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care.
Training Description:
I have provided care to youth and young adults across outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), residential, and inpatient settings.
In 2017, I received rigorous training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) at McLean Hospital’s Child and Adolescent OCD Institute (OCDI Jr.), where I worked as a lead Community Residence Counselor/ERP Coach and Clinical Research Assistant. In 2020, I joined the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety (NECOA), where I am happy to be a full-time clinician.
Additionally, I provided therapeutic care for adolescents and adults working towards eating disorder recovery at Walden’s inpatient center.
Diversity Statement:
I am a neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ affirming clinician. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of partnership and continuous collaboration, and I hold each individual’s right to self-determination in the highest regard. Together, we will establish treatment goals that are right for you and your unique needs, and your voice will always be heard.
