Dr. Barnhart serves individuals with OCD and Related Disorders and anxiety disorders. He works with the team of Behavioral Sciences of Alabama, Inc., an affiliate of IOCDF.org. At least 30% of his patients are diagnosed with OCD and Related Disorders. He has over thirty years experience in the use of CBT in treating OCD.
Dr. Barnhart, director of the intensive outpatient program, is a Licensed Counselor-Supervisor and Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. He completed his graduate work at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. He formed Behavioral Sciences of Alabama, Inc. to offer services for the treatment of obsessive compulsive and related disorders for clients and their families. He is a former Chair of the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling. He is the author of Write Your Fears Away, a workbook using written expression for imaginal exposure. He has been treating patients with OCD for twenty years using CBT and ERP.Ou
