I have an extensive history of treating adults, children and adolescents with OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and training other clinicians to do so as well. I bring this expertise to my current work, with the essential understanding that each individual is unique and is the expert on themselves. I work collaboratively with each individual or family to tailor treatment to best fit their specific situation, needs and goals. In addition to treating OCD, I treat anxiety, trauma and related disorders, and integrate evidence-based treatments for these disorders into my practice as indicated.
Often, OCD symptoms co-occur with other mental health challenges. My approach is to treat the whole person and I strive to provide comprehensive care. As such, I integrate additional evidence-based treatments to address co-occurring challenges when indicated, while maintaining focus on treating the OCD through Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) when OCD is the primary concern.
I am a certified ERP therapist and trainer through the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (CTSA) at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to treating numerous children, adolescents and adults with OCD and OC-spectrum disorders, I have also trained, supervised and certified other clinicians in the implementation of ERP, most recently as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania prior to shifting to private practice. In addition, I have taught OCD workshops internationally and provided expert consultation for clinicians across the country.
Each person’s background and culture is an important part of the foundation for how that individual sees and operates in their life. As a result, I believe it is essential to work to understand each individual’s specific background, culture, views and context, and the way all of this may interact with our work. This allows us to integrate the different parts of a person’s culture and values into our treatment plan and better meet the goals of the people I’m working with.
