Narrative of Services:

My practice provides evidence-based treatment for OCD and related anxiety concerns, with particular experience addressing intrusive thoughts, compulsions, avoidance, reassurance seeking, and presentations including harm, sexual, and religious/moral scrupulosity themes. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as the primary treatment for OCD and integrate CBT, ACT, DBT-informed strategies, and motivational interviewing when clinically appropriate. I also treat co-occurring anxiety, mood, trauma-related, eating, personality, and substance use concerns. Treatment is individualized, collaborative, and focused on helping clients reduce compulsive behaviors, increase tolerance of uncertainty, and improve functioning.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I provide individualized, evidence-based treatment for OCD alongside co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, mood, eating, personality, trauma, and substance use disorders. Treatment is guided by a comprehensive assessment and prioritizes the conditions causing the greatest impairment or interfering with OCD treatment. I integrate ERP with approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed interventions as clinically indicated. When multiple concerns are present, treatment is coordinated and paced carefully to ensure that interventions are complementary rather than competing, with ongoing assessment of symptoms, functioning, safety, and treatment goals.

Training Description:

I am a licensed psychologist with specialized training and clinical experience in evidence-based treatment of OCD and anxiety disorders. My training includes CBT, ERP, DBT, ACT, MI, and other evidence-based behavioral interventions. Including my training, I have been treating OCD for 12 years. I have completed continuing education and specialized training focused on the assessment and treatment of OCD and related conditions and incorporate ongoing consultation, professional education, and current research into my practice. My broader training in trauma, substance use, and complex co-occurring conditions also informs case conceptualization when OCD occurs alongside other psychiatric concerns.

Diversity Statement:

My clinical work has included individuals from a wide range of racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, religious, and geographic backgrounds, as well as diverse ages, genders, gender identities, sexual orientations, and life experiences. My work within Veterans Affairs has been particularly formative, providing extensive experience serving a highly diverse population with varied identities, values, family structures, military backgrounds, and levels of socioeconomic resources. These experiences have reinforced the importance of approaching each client with cultural humility and understanding symptoms within the context of the individual’s identities, environment, values, and lived experience.

In addition to my private practice, I have trained and worked extensively within Veterans Affairs, where I have provided care to highly diverse populations across race, ethnicity, culture, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic background, military experience, and other aspects of identity. My VA training and clinical experience have significantly strengthened my multicultural competence and my ability to consider how identity, culture, values, trauma history, and lived experience shape symptom presentation and treatment. This perspective informs my individualized approach to OCD treatment, including tailoring ERP and other evidence-based interventions to each client’s cultural context, values, and unique circumstances.
