Narrative of Services:

Empowered Minds Counseling specializes in treating OCD, anxiety disorders, and related conditions in adolescents and young adult women, including those with co-occurring ADHD or ASD. Our practice involves the treatment of OCD and anxiety disorder presentations. We provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD, alongside acceptance-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs. To date, we’ve worked with dozens of clients presenting with OCD subtypes including contamination, relationship OCD, scrupulosity, and “just right” or perfectionism OCD. Our practice emphasizes accessible psychoeducation and a validating, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

For OCD, the foundation is Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — the gold-standard treatment — delivered in weekly 50-minute sessions. For clients with co-occurring ADHD, Autism Spectrum, mood disorders, or anxiety disorders, treatment is adapted through a neuro-affirming, strengths-based lens that accounts for sensory sensitivities, emotional dysregulation, and executive functioning challenges. We integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) alongside ERP when appropriate. Clients receive psychoeducation, between-session exposures homework, and ongoing progress monitoring to support lasting, meaningful change.

Training Description:

Meghan Burns, LPC holds a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling (2021) and has been specializing in OCD treatment since 2022. She is completing formal ERP training through the Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy for both adult and pediatric populations (2026) and is on the waitlist for the IOCDF’s signature Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) — an intensive, expert-led ERP certification program. Meghan pursues ongoing continuing education in ERP and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and holds certification as an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP).
