Narrative of Services:
Laura Bykofsky is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 22 years of experience treating children, adolescents, and adults. Laura utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques in her work, which enables her to individualize her approach to employ the technique that will be most beneficial for a given situation or family. Laura utilizes a systems approach in working with children adn adolescents to achieve significant and sustainable results with her clients. Areas of expertise include: OCD, OC spectrum disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, phobias, depression, addictions, ADHD, and workplace issues. All major insurances are accepted. Evening and weekend hours are available.
Although always a part of her practice, Laura began to specialize in OCD treatment in 2003. She began to research best practices in the field and attended the Behavioral Training Institute through the International OCD Foundation. Laura has received in-depth training in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and attends the IOCDF annual conferences. A personal family history impacted by OCD has motivated Laura to focus on this in her clinical practice. Techniques used include Exposure and Response Prevention, Socratic questioning, patient as detective, metaphors, and downward arrow.
