Courtney DeAngelis PsyD
I have expertise in the delivery of cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure and response prevention for OCD and OC related disorders. I am happy to facilitate accelerated courses of exposure and response prevention for patients who are hoping to experience more acute symptom relief. My private practice is conveniently located in a private suite within a shopping center with easy access to conduct in vivo exposures. I also conduct home visits, upon request, when clinically indicated.
I have treated patients with OCD, OC related disorders, and co-morbid anxiety for over a decade. I completed my two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety Disorders of Westchester (CUCARD-W), where I remained as faculty for another six years thereafter. I have experience supervising doctoral students in the treatment of OCD, and have provided consultation to providers in the field as well.
I welcome patients from diverse backgrounds into my practice. I strive to deliver empirically supported treatments that are culturally sensitive.
Most of my predoctoral training provided me with the opportunity to serve diverse populations, particularly racial and ethnic minorities. I also have extensive experience working with patients from Orthodox Jewish communities, and am sensitive to respect cultural practices when facilitating exposures surrounding contamination and scrupulosity. I believe that even an empirically supported treatment can be a value-laden treatment, and I invite patients to provide me with feedback when a recommendation is uncomfortable to them. I ask questions often and do my best to limit assumptions in my clinical work.
