Ricardo Despradel LMHC
My practice focuses in the treatment of OCD, substance use and eating disorders. About 20% of my clients have OCD and related disorders.
I use evidence interventions like CBT and motivational interviewing to address co-occuring substance use with other disorders. In treatment, we will identify the function of the substance use and how it may be impacting any other conditions and symptoms that you are experiencing and treating both of them effectively.
I have completed intensive training in Exposure and response prevention (ERP) through the Cognitive Behavior Institute and additional training through NOCD academy for a total of over 50+ specialized continuing education in OCD and related disorders treatment. I also have been trained in the use of exposure therapy for anxiety disorders through the Beck institute.
I work with clients from different cultural identities and backgrounds. Especially those that identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community and/or Latinx/Hispanic. I also offer services in Spanish.
I have received extensive training in cultural competence through my graduate and post-graduate programs through Adelphi University and Alfred University. I have also participated in committees designed to address the inequalities in care and low representation in research studies experienced by members of marginalized communities.
I have participated in educational panels meant to teach and train other mental health providers in the delivery of culturally competent care.
