Joseph F. Edwards PsyD
I am in private practice treating children, adolescents, and families in Louisville, KY. While I am out-of-network with most insurance companies, I do submit claim forms to insurance companies on behalf of my clients. One-third of my patients suffer from an Anxiety Disorder, such as: OCD, Tourette's Disorder, Impulsive Control Disorder, Trichotillomania, Tic Disorders, GAD, Specific Phobia and/or Social Phobia. ERP, CBT, and Family Therapy are the primary treatment strategies I use with pediatric OCD cases. I primarily use Habit Reversal and CBT with Tic Disorders and Trichotillomania cases.
My primary specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) was during my internship at McLean Hospital in Belmont, where I was psychology intern on the Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy track. I attended seminars on Behavior Therapy and OCD during my internship and the IOCDF Workshop in Nashville, TN. I have presented on the Assessment and Treatment of Anxiety Disorders in Children and Adolescents at the University of Louisville School of Medicine to psychiatry residents and psychology interns and have lectured on this topic at the Kentucky Psychological Association Continuing Education Workshops. I have worked regularly with OCD patients since 1993, and to date I have treated several hundred patients with OCD.
