Joan Faier-Routman, PhD
Narrative of Services:
Originally trained as a child and family therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience, I strive to treat the whole person (and the family), not just their symptoms. The percentage of my practice devoted to treating people with OCD and OC-related disorders has varied from 25% – 60% over the years. I utilize CBT and ERP, in a systematic program to help the client achieve his/her goals. I am a firm believer in baby steps that make the necessary tasks user-friendly. I develop an individually-tailored therapeutic approach to address the unique needs of each client.
I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I have been practicing for over 20 years. I have developed a sub-specialty in OCD during the past 7 years. I completed the Behavior Therapy Training Institute in 2009. I continue to stay informed by attending continuing education programs through the International OCD Foundation, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and other organizations offering continuing education programs to psychologists.
