Matthew Hopperstad MD

I provide evidence-based assessment, consultation and ongoing treatment for patients with mild, moderate and severe OCD and related disorders. I also have experience treating tics and Tourette’s. Over the last several years I estimate that evaluated and treated more than 300 patients with OCD and related disorders.

I enjoying working with people of all ages– sometimes with therapy only, sometimes with medication only (usually the person has an outside therapist), and sometimes with both therapy and medication. I always use a collaborative approach and work together with patients and families to develop clear treatment plans and measurable goals.

I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with expertise in treating patients with OCD, tics and related disorders. I have experience with both prescribing medication and doing behavioral therapy.

I was the Medical Director of the OCD Treatment Center at Mount Sinai in New York from 2012 to 2014 where our team of experienced psychiatrists and psychotherapists treated hundreds of patients with OCD and related disorders.

Since 2014 I have been on the faculty of the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital where I have had additional experience treating OCD. I opened my sole-provider practice in January 2016.
