Maria C. Mancebo PhD
More than 90% of my clinical practice has been individuals with OCD or Hoarding. I have expertise in treating co-occuring depressive and anxiety disorders.
I have been treating OCD and related disorders for over 20 years. I completed specialized training in CBT including exposure and response prevention in graduate school at the Biobehavioral Institute in New York before going on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship in OCD at Brown University. I am a Scientific and Clinical Advisory Board member of the RI affiliate of the IOCDF (OCDRI).
I direct an intensive outpatient program for OCD and anxiety disorders at Butler Hospital. I also train and supervise psychology and psychiatry residents at Brown’s Medical School.
I have experience working with clients from multicultural backgrounds. I completed a year-long internship in the South Bronx in NY and worked with clients who struggled with severe mental illness, poverty and homelessness. My research studies have focused on adapting ERP for clinics that service low-income populations including training clinicians to be culturally sensitive. I attend at least one training per year that is focused on building my cultural competency skills.
