My practice focuses on treating anxiety and OCD, meaning the majority of my practice is focused on these issues, though I have experience working with many other challenges as well. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Exposure and Response Prevention, as well as integrating elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I work collaboratively with clients to identify their priority goals for treatment. If OCD remains the top priority, then I integrate other skills with the exposure work to help navigate challenges that may come from co-occurring disorders.
I have been working with OCD for the past 5 years. I received foundational training in ERP through a 4 day intensive workshop, and have since attended a training on the integration of ACT and OCD, a 10-week training program offered through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Canada, and I attend a monthly consultation group with local OCD specialists.
I received training in my Masters program focused on cultural competency, encouraging awareness and self-reflection around working with diverse populations. In my consultation groups it is a regular conversation, checking in as to how our own biases may be showing up in therapy. I also worked in the public system in an outpatient community clinic that provided experience with various demographics.
