We see anywhere from 10% to 15 % of our active caseload of patients with an active OCD diagnosis or OCD related diagnosis (out of around 300 active monthly patients) – many are referred from a psychiatric practice we used to practice alongside.

Owner, Jon Pesek (“Jay”) was diagnosed with childhood OCD at age 5 and participated in intense CBT and Exposure & Response therapy himself as an adult, then worked alongside a psychiatrist for 4 years treating OCD patients with medication and CBT before opening his own practice to address children, adolescents and adults using the techniques and training he both underwent and learned.

We are unique in our area in that we accept Alabama Medicaid. The Alabama Medicaid clientele has been very diverse in it’s multi-cultural representation demographic – and thus our practitioners have gathered a vast amount of experience, supervision and training related multicultural populations and the ways in which OCD and OC Related disorders are experiences and diagnosed within those populations.

All of our practitioners have had graduate level training in multicultural counseling, and some have had academic coursework in cultural psychopathology. Several have worked within the psychiatric hospitals with homeless and veteran populations, and others still work part time in the inner city and prison systems. This gives our staff a wide range of experience and exposure beyond the middle-class location where our practice is geographically located.
