Neal Ranen MD
I am an extremely experienced psychiatrist, managing patients with a wide variety of presentations of OCD, as well as Trichotillomania, Excoriation Disorder, BDD, and Hoarding, for years. I cannot exactly quantify how many, but these represent a large portion of my practice, including currently treating very many patients with all of these conditions. I employ medication management based on the American Psychiatric Association Practice Guideline for OCD and the most recent clinical literature (e.g. supplemental NAC for Excoriation Disorder); and for patients not already seeing a therapist, I do psychotherapy as well, with Exposure/Response Prevention as the foundation.
Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Hospital followed by full-time Staff and Faculty at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and The Johns Hopkins Medical School of Medicine. Now in private practice, I have had years of experience treating patients with OCD and OCD Spectrum Disorders. I continue to implement the most up-to-date and evidence-based approaches, which includes following the American Psychiatric Association Practice Guideline for OCD, incorporating findings from the most recent medication management literature, and the use of Exposure/Response Prevention, which I have been employing for years.
