Steven J. Sainato LPC
I currently treat clients with OCD at DTS (Dallas Theological Seminary) and I own my own practice called Sainato Counseling where I specialize in OCD. I’ve worked with clients struggling with OCD approximately two years including working with scrupulosity, harm OCD, Just right OCD, Checking as well as working with social anxiety.
My treatment protocol is as follows
– Assessing the client for OCD using a Y-BOCS.
-Doing psycho ed on OCD/ERP,
-Developing motivations/values to focus on during treatment
Developing a hierarchy for exposures, doing exposures (in-vivo, imaginary) and using ACT concepts for helping clients to pursue their values.
I’ve worked with OCD patients for about two years at a private practice and at the graduate school (DTS) where I currently work. I have training in Exposure Response Prevention and I utilize interventions from ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) helping clients accept the discomfort of their inner experience so that they can move toward a life that matters to them. I also meet monthly with an OCD consultation group which discusses treatment modalities for working with OCD and related disorders as well as provides case consultation.
I have had some but not extensive experience in working with diverse populations at DTS (Dallas Theological Seminary).
