Theresa P. Shank, PhD
Director of Psychological Services, CPE Clinic, LLC
Narrative of Services:
About 80% of my practice is devoted to treating individuals with OCD and OC related disorders. I have treated well over 100 individuals with OCD, mainly children (as young as 5) and teens. The remainder of my clients have generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and/or panic disorder. I use cognitive-behavioral, exposure and response prevention (E/RP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and family systems techniques to treat these conditions. Providing developmentally appropriate education and treatment to the client, and substantial training to the parents, is integral to my work.
I have specialized in treating OCD, anxiety disorders, and body-focused repetitive behaviors for the past 14 years. I mainly see children and teens, but also some adults. Many of my adults clients have experienced trauma/traumatic loss. I have received training through the International OCD Foundation (BTTI and conferences) and the Trichotillomania Learning Center. For two years, I participated in a peer supervision group with a prior member of the IOCDF Scientific Advisory Board. I will help clients file for reimbursement for my services under their out-of-plan insurance benefits. I practice with an experienced, Johns Hopkins trained child and adolescent psychiatrist.
