Pamela Simms, PsyD
Narrative of Services:
Dr. Pam Simms is a licensed psychologist specializing in child and adult Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Tourette Syndrome, and Mood Disorders, including Depression and Panic Disorder. The treatment approach to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder used by Dr. Pam Simms is a combination of Psychoeducation, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), including Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Mindfulness Training. In addition, family sessions are incorporated into therapy, as necessary, to disengage family members from the OCD patterns while also supporting their family member who is struggling with OCD. Dr. Simms also works collaboratively with schools and employers, as needed, to advocate for individuals with OCD and/or Tourette Syndrome who would benefit from accommodations in the educational or employment environment.
Dr. Pam Simms has been treating children, adolescents, and adults with OCD for five years, and has the personal experience as a mother of an adolescent daughter with OCD. Dr. Simms has presented "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Treatments and the Role of the Parents" for the Pennsylvania Tourette Syndrome Association, and "Anxiety and Depression: the Role of the School" as a Central Bucks County School District In-Service that included a section on OCD. Dr. Simms obtained seminar training presented by John March, M.D., titled "Treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Across the Life Span", and seminar training presented by Aureen Pinto, Ph.D., titled "User-Friendly Cognitive-Behahavioral Therapy for Anxiety that Even Kids Like".
