Narrative of Services:
OCD can make you feel like that it’s irresponsible and dangerous to dismiss your OCD thoughts. In therapy, you can learn to distinguish between problems that deserve your time and attention, and OCD created problems that don’t need to be (and can’t be) solved because they are based on a believable, but false story. Once you feel confident that you can tell the difference between these two kinds of problems, you won’t feel the need to seek reassurance or do compulsions.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
People with OCD often suffer from chronic difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. I am trained in evidence based treatments for insomnia, and I will work with you to help you recover from both OCD and insomnia
Training Description:
I am trained in ERP, ACT and I-CBT. I primarily treat OCD with I-CBT, and blend in elements of ERP and ACT where appropriate and according to the preferences and needs of my clients. I stay up to date with the latest research in OCD, and I continue to seek consultation with leading experts in the field.
Diversity Statement:
Everyone is welcome in my practice. I work with people from all walks of life. That is one of the joys of therapy for me. I live in New York City, one of the most diverse places in the world, and that diversity is one of the big things that keeps me here. My philosophy is that OCD doesn’t discriminate, and neither do I. If you are concerned that a difference in our backgrounds will get in the way of treatment, I will work with you to bridge any gaps that we may have in understanding each other.
