I specialize in OCD and trauma largely using proven methods such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy. The majority of the people I see come in for one or both of these. I also have focused training and experience working with phobias, social anxiety, general anxiety, panic attacks, body focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB), tics, body dysmorphia, ARFID, hoarding, and depression. In addition to ERP and PE treatment, I bring in elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Logo Therapy, and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) as needed.
Treatment typically starts with getting to know you and your experiences. From there we build a plan together based on what you feel you need, the systems in your life, and incorporating my clinical knowledge and experience; this plan is unique from person to person. If we have multiple things to work through, we initially prioritize what is most impactful to your life and functioning immediately and work through into the rest as we go. Our treatment phase is a blend of education, practice, and processing to reinforce your progress, working towards our goal of independent skill use and maintenance of treatment progress.
I have a Master’s degree in social work and completed over 4,000 hours of experience for clinical licensure, obtaining full licensure in 2017. Over the span of the last 5+years, I have obtained extensive and specialized training in the diagnosis and behavioral treatment of mental health conditions under the umbrella of obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma. I have also been trained in the treatment of depression and grief, as well as the integration of Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) principles in exposure therapy and the running of Therapeutic Table Top Role-Playing Games (TTTRPGs).
I have worked with neurodivergent folks and people of diverse age, racial, orientation, gender, relationship, professional, and educational backgrounds. I have experience working with women in pre and postnatal care, people in college, people going through hormonal changes, people in retirement, and people who are actively managing life threatening illnesses. I also have a good deal of experience working with men through some of the unique challenges they may face in mental health treatment. I am biracial and have a more personal understanding of Middle Eastern and Caucasian cultures.
I regularly partake in cultural competency trainings to stay informed of needs and special considerations when working with diverse populations, both as part of licensing renewal requirements for 3 different states and also as a personal point of interest. More importantly, I start where my clients are and keep an open and curious mind about their experiences. No one person or their history and experiences are the same; I rely on the knowledge and expertise my clients have on themselves and the systems in their lives in order for our work together to be effective.
