To ensure a positive and impactful volunteer experience, the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) recognizes the importance of having an updated and published Volunteer Code of Conduct. This provides clear guidelines aligned with the mission and vision of the IOCDF to foster successful relationships with all our volunteers.
Code of Conduct
The following standards are expected to be upheld by all IOCDF volunteers:
Respect
- Treat all individuals, including fellow volunteers, staff, and community members, with fairness, dignity, and respect.
- Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or bullying. This includes offensive language, gestures, or actions based on race, color, gender, identity, religion, language, medical condition, age, culture, national origin, gender expression, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation.
Safety and Well-being
- Prioritize the safety of yourself and others in all activities.
- Abstain from volunteering while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. The possession or use of these substances is strictly prohibited during volunteer activities.
Accountability
- Represent the IOCDF positively and professionally at all times.
- Be reliable and punctual for scheduled volunteer activities. If unable to attend, notify the appropriate coordinator as soon as possible.
- Use IOCDF resources responsibly and report any misuse or misappropriation.
Confidentiality
- Protect the privacy of fellow volunteers and participants by keeping sensitive information confidential, regardless of the setting in which it was shared.
- Disclose confidential information only if you believe someone is at risk of harm or danger to their well-being.
Conflict of Interest
- Avoid promoting personal, financial, political, social, or religious interests while representing the IOCDF.
- Do not use IOCDF platforms or events for solicitation, marketing, or promotion unless explicitly approved by IOCDF staff.
Digital Conduct
- Use IOCDF internal platforms and email groups appropriately.
- Refrain from sharing confidential information or engaging in unauthorized solicitation or promotion online.
Consequences of Violations
- Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from the volunteer program.
Acknowledgment
- By participating as a volunteer with the IOCDF, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Your commitment to these standards ensures a positive and safe environment for all members of our community.
