Narrative of Services:
My work with clients who have an OCD diagnosis, or suspect that they might have OCD, is a growing part of my practice as I have only been recently trained in ERP. However, this is an area that I am passionate about as someone who has a diagnosis of OCD myself, and has done ERP as a client. In the future, I hope to receive more training for OC-related disorders, but this is not an area that I am competent in treating yet.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
Trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD) – EMDR, parts-work
Training Description:
I completed the “Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD” training from the Cognitive Behavioural Institute in June of 2024. Since then, I have sought out ongoing consultation opportunities through private supervision from an approved clinical supervisor, and in a group setting through the Center for Anxiety and Behavior Therapy. I have also completed a PESI training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and the IOCDF on-demand webinar “Integrating ERP and ACT.” I am dedicated to ongoing learning in this area and regularly attend webinars through organizations like IOCDF and the NOCD Academy.
Diversity Statement:
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked and volunteered in community-based programs with refugee and immigrant families. In my counselling work, I continue to be passionate about working with these populations, and have also worked with First Nations and Metis persons. I am also an approved counsellor for the First Nations Health Authority.
As a part of my personal learning and requirements for maintaining my registrations as an RSW and RCC, I am committed to ongoing learning in the areas of cultural safety and anti-oppressive practice. I receive supervision in these areas and seek out trainings like the South Asian Mental Health training from SOCH, and the San’yas Indigenous Cultural Safety training to improve my care for clients.
