Narrative of Services:

I provide individual psychotherapy primarily to adults. Although I am a generalist, I see mostly individuals with mood and anxiety disorders. Currently, about 25% of my caseload comprises of people with OCD. Over the past 3 years, I have treated approximately 12 individuals with OCD. Prior to being licensed, I treated numerous individuals with OCD as part of practicum training, internship, and post-doctoral training.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I typically will prioritize treatment of OCD via ERP unless the other co-occurring disorder is much more severe and/or interfering with the ability to carry out ERP (ie, severe depression, or substance abuse). I also will link experiential avoidance in compulsions with other avoidant behaviors (social isolation, soothing behaviors in depression, substance use etc…). I use an ACT framework as a throughline for many of the disorders I treat.

Training Description:

I completed a year-long practicum training at McLean Hospital’s OCD Institute in 2010, and was supervised by a couple of psychologists who are current IOCDF consultants. I have taken numerous CE trainings and conference workshops centered on OCD (particularly within an ACT framework), and have participated in past IOCDF online consultation groups.

Diversity Statement:

I came to the United States as a foreign student some 25 years ago, and have been a keen learner about issues relevant to immigrant populations, especially about the acculturation process. Being one of few providers in Central Mississippi with an immigrant background, I strive to provide a welcoming environment to all, and especially to individuals feeling culturally ostracized from mainstream Mississippi culture.

I have taken graduate courses in multicultural psychology, advanced training in cultural competency during pre-doctoral internship, and have recently co-authored a toolkit and co-presented a conference presentation on the issue of providing culturally-competent care to immigrant populations.
