Registered Clinical Counsellor at New Heights Counselling

  • LGBTQIA+ Affirming
Narrative of Services:

I provide individual counselling for children, adolescents, and adults through New Heights Counselling, with a focus on OCD and related disorders. A significant portion of my caseload includes individuals experiencing OCD, intrusive thoughts, and compulsive behaviours, often alongside anxiety, ADHD, and autism. I support a range of OCD presentations, including contamination, harm, and perfectionism themes. My approach integrates ERP-informed and CBT-based strategies within a neuroaffirming, trauma-informed framework, with adaptations to support regulation, sensory needs, and executive functioning.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I use a neuroaffirming, client-centered approach integrating ERP-informed and CBT-based strategies with somatic awareness and Internal Family Systems (IFS). For co-occurring ADHD and autism, I adapt pacing, sensory needs, and communication to support regulation and executive functioning. I have training in CBT, IFS, play therapy, trauma-informed practice, mindfulness-based interventions, and have completed the Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) training.

Training Description:

I have training in CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)-informed approaches for anxiety and OCD, and continue to pursue ongoing professional development in OCD-specific treatment. My broader clinical training includes introductory training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as play therapy, trauma-informed practice, and mindfulness-based interventions. I have completed the Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS) training, supporting neuroaffirming adaptations when working with co-occurring ADHD and autism. My experience includes working with individuals with intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and anxiety-related disorders across the lifespan

Diversity Statement:

I work within a culturally diverse community and support individuals and families from a wide range of cultural, linguistic, and immigrant backgrounds. As a South Asian Canadian-born counsellor, I bring lived experience of navigating multiple cultural identities, which informs my culturally responsive and humble approach. I consider the impact of family dynamics, stigma, and cultural values on mental health and support clients in integrating their cultural context into treatment. I aim to create a respectful, inclusive space that honours each client’s identity, beliefs, and lived experience.

I have training in culturally responsive practice through my Master of Education in School Counselling, along with continuing education (CE) in trauma-informed care. My training includes CBT, ERP-informed approaches for OCD, mindfulness-based interventions, and motivational interviewing. I have also completed ASDCS training, supporting neuroaffirming adaptations when working with diverse neurotypes. I work with clients from varied cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and approach care with cultural humility, recognizing the impact of systemic factors, migration, and intergenerational experiences on mental health.
